Photography and more PC splurging...

Since my last blog a month ago I've continued to upgrade my computer and its accessories. The main thing I need now is a graphics card. I'm going to hold out on that a bit longer because I need to save money for traveling, I want to get something good and prices will drop.

New additions: Corsair TX750M, 2*8GB Corsair Vengeance Black, ASUS Xonar Essence STX, Logitech Illuminated keyboard, Corsair Vengeance M60 laser mouse and the Razer Goliathus Gaming Mat (Control edition, mid sized). So current specs are now:

Intel Core i7-3770K @ 3.5Ghz

32GB Corsair Vengeance (RAM)

ASUS Sabertooth Z77 (mobo)

Intel PRO/1000 CT (network adapter)

Zalman Z9 Plus (case)

OCZ Vertex 2 60GB (SSD)

2*500GB (Hitachi Deskstar, Seagate Barracuda)

ASUS Xonar Essence STX (sound card)

ATI Radeon HD 4600

Corsair TX750M (psu)

The Xonar Essence STX is seriously amazing. It blows my previous Creative sound card out of the water. Not only is the sound incredibly clear and warm, it has an internal headphone amp that can drive headphones that have up to 600 ohms of impedance. My Sennheiser HD 558's are only 50 ohms. To give you an idea… if I maxed the volume, it would blow them and really fucking hurt my ears. If you love listening to music a lot, this sound card is totally worth spending $200 on.

I've also been getting into photography. Until a few hours ago I've been shooting auto - from now on I'm only going to shoot manual. Here are some shots from the past week or so:

Can't wait to go out and get the hang of manual. Also, panoramas. Need to start bringing out the tripod. :D

One thing you will want to look into is Prime glass. Fixed focal length, but waay faster (lower f-stop) and generally better picture.

Intredasting, I'll look into it.
