Photography and more PC splurging...

Since my last blog a month ago I've continued to upgrade my computer and its accessories. The main thing I need now is a graphics card. I'm going to hold out on that a bit longer because I need to save money for traveling, I want to get something good and prices will drop.

New additions: Corsair TX750M, 2*8GB Corsair Vengeance Black, ASUS Xonar Essence STX, Logitech Illuminated keyboard, Corsair Vengeance M60 laser mouse and the Razer Goliathus Gaming Mat (Control edition, mid sized). So current specs are now:

Intel Core i7-3770K @ 3.5Ghz

32GB Corsair Vengeance (RAM)

ASUS Sabertooth Z77 (mobo)

Intel PRO/1000 CT (network adapter)

Zalman Z9 Plus (case)

OCZ Vertex 2 60GB (SSD)

2*500GB (Hitachi Deskstar, Seagate Barracuda)

ASUS Xonar Essence STX (sound card)

ATI Radeon HD 4600

Corsair TX750M (psu)

The Xonar Essence STX is seriously amazing. It blows my previous Creative sound card out of the water. Not only is the sound incredibly clear and warm, it has an internal headphone amp that can drive headphones that have up to 600 ohms of impedance. My Sennheiser HD 558's are only 50 ohms. To give you an idea… if I maxed the volume, it would blow them and really fucking hurt my ears. If you love listening to music a lot, this sound card is totally worth spending $200 on.

I've also been getting into photography. Until a few hours ago I've been shooting auto - from now on I'm only going to shoot manual. Here are some shots from the past week or so:

Can't wait to go out and get the hang of manual. Also, panoramas. Need to start bringing out the tripod. :D

panoramas are porn for my eyes.

Isn't porn porn for your eyes?

Definitely stick it out with learning manual. It takes a while to get the hang of it, but the results are so much better it's well worth it. What kind of camera/lens combo do you have going?

Im guessing vancouver.

pretty good photography, especially the one of the docks cause it looks like you'd have to be batman to get that shot.

Shit, Rez figured you out, you better pay us all off with your millionaire money so this doesn't get out.

Porn sucks.

Well sure, but after the recession who can afford that extra porn?

Would you recommend it over something like an Mbox?

Also, What camera are you using?

Yeah, I actually understand why manual is so much better. I might go out tonight at sunset to really try it out.

I'm using the Nikon D3000. It's not actually mine, it's my brother's. I'm using it to get the hang of things and gauge my interest and I'm using the AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G lense. If I continue to enjoy photography, I'm going to get my own entry level DSLR. Limiting myself to $600 or less.

It was a glass elevator to a tower with a panoramic viewing room, but that's still pretty cool. Taking that shot without a tripod was a bitch.

My first panorama. Shot this morning in manual. It has its issues but I still like it.
