[LotA] Still working on it. I'm currently doing my best to eliminate ship-to-shore collisions from the engine - by scaling the scenery. (even if you're right next to the land, it will still draw outside the combat box)

Progress: I am ~100% done with the Port system. I got the …

[LotA]Gimme a flyswatter!

Eek! Bugs!

I went in to try to find the bugs in LotA, and came up with a disturbing list. The following is a list of bugs and desired features that I came up with in a test session.

Move "list ships" first entry down 10 pixels.

Make a proper …

[LotA]: Crunch!

Posted by omicron1 on Nov. 12, 2006, 2:37 p.m.

LotA: With less than 1 month to go, my focus has shifted entirely to Lions of the Atlantic. The storyline is done. It takes up 20 kilobytes of pure data - words that tell the character's tale. It should last about 15 to 20 hours total - a good size. …

MMO: Combat levels

Posted by omicron1 on Nov. 10, 2006, 12:36 p.m.

MMO: I have added the second of three Level Fields to the game: Combat levels. These levels are gained in the following three areas: Power, Speed, and Accuracy. Some weapons only use two of these fields - for instance, the Laser weapon, which is always on target, does not use …

Example: Sinewave Reflections in 3d

Posted by omicron1 on Nov. 9, 2006, 1:46 p.m.

Example: I'm submitting my first released example for public use - and all you blogreaders get it first.

This is, basically, an example dealing with "curved" reflections in 3d. This is normally not possible due to the incompatibility of surfaces with d3d native; however, by not actually entering d3d …

MMO: Video # 1

Posted by omicron1 on Nov. 8, 2006, 3:03 p.m.

IBO: I have prepared and released the first-ever gameplay/graphics video of the game. Watch it at the following location:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2x73rd0OA_4

Note: The game runs about twice this fast normally; it was slow because of the video capture in the background.

Things to look for:

* Sky/tree/building reflections in the water …

MMO: AI proof-of-concept: In Action

Posted by omicron1 on Nov. 7, 2006, 8:35 p.m.

I have successfully added the most basic of AI types to the game. The AI is the immobile Turret enemy (10 hp), equipped with the basic "Rifle" weapon (1 bullet every 2/3 second with a 0.5 damage rate.)

Above: Me getting beaten on by a turret with a Machine Gun. …

MMO: EXP costs to level; AI Camps.

Posted by omicron1 on Nov. 6, 2006, 5:47 p.m.

MMO:

1. Some random information concerning levels:

71500: Required EXP for a 10th level skill

132586288: Required EXP for a lvl 100 skill (cr lvl 5050)

3212914176: Max total EXP (for level 25250)

You gain mining exp at the following rate:

30/second + 30*(Mining Level/10).

Thus, at level 10, you …

LotA: New Interface

Posted by omicron1 on Nov. 5, 2006, 5:30 p.m.

LotA: Someone finally told me that LotA's interface looked bad. (As the doting creator, I would never have realized this otherwise…thanks, Jake) Thus, I have prepared a new interface. Instead of Vellum, I now have Leather.

MMO: I updated the roof texture and took an image of the city as …
