He just randomly showed this to me right after he did it, we laughed, and it was a good time.

Wth is Slack, Acid???

Also, I know I'm against the crowd on this one but I'm not the biggest fan of team speak… Mostly because its another client that I have to keep running. It works well, but its not integrated with things. Facebook is integrated well, but they focus on real-life friends, and even then, its hard to separate your different groups of people making a big clusterfuck. Google's circles are better with organization, but the implementation is bad. Google is also integrated pretty well also. What happened to hangouts?

I think my goto would either be skype if it wasn't so bloated and glitchy (and didn't cause other problems), or steam if people kept it running. I just think steam could improve its interface honestly.

MSN represents the good old days with internet buddies

AIM represents awkward middleschool conversations with classmates

I remember AIM. It was crabshit. I used it for a few weeks before deciding it wasn't worth it.

MSN was just kind of what most people used at the time, so it was convenient and well known. Skype now is a pain in the ass but it's kind of the go-to communication solution at the moment since it has support for audio and video calls. There are lesser known third party programs like Trillian and Pidgin but they're pretty feature-deprived and almost as invasive as Skype at this point.

Also, you gotta love/hate MSN for the days when you'd randomly get dragged into a group chat and get pinged into oblivion.

Actually that still happens. But now I have /alertsoff.

Slack is what cool fucking start up bosses who are KILLING IT use with their teams.

But seriously, it's probably the greatest chat system ever created, used by all the cool kids.

Slack: It's IRC with pretty extensions.

For teams.

It works great at work.

Also, Flashchat was an abomination.
