Rough table test

Yeah, I am still working on the Puck Bowler. There just isn't enough chaos in my life! Ack! Well, I have plenty of other issues taking up my time, but I did get a rough table done to get an idea for speed. Some 3-D games seem to run slow on my system so I did a simple table to see how fast/smooth this may play. So far it looks like it will work. I am new to working with 3D in GameMaker so I looked at quite a few tutorials, etc… to get a feel for what does what. Still more to learn but it's comming together.

As I suspected, the pictures my brother took could not be used directly (stiched together or anything), but I did take notes of where table features were, tried to keep everything scaled close and drew it by hand. There are still some features to add such as the flashing lights and some writing but it's mostly there. I stoped at this point because I just wanted to test it out. Seeing it can handle the speed I may double the resolution of the table so the text can be clearer (and maybe add some more of the fine print from the original table)

Things like the words "Strike Zones" are hard to read. I was thinking of sound for later too… How to do this… Should I try to get a microphone and record the electro-mechanical sounds from his real machine somehow? My other option would be to try and make it sound more modern like an acutal strike sound with real pins and such. As for sounds from the original machine, it only has like 2 chimes in it. The rest is just the sounds of relays and stuff. If I do go with the original, I would probably have to try and go all the way and have the score displayed with the numbers that go around on wheels like the old pinball machines. Doing it with an LED style font would be so much easier.

Just make the text also appear beside it non-tilted, that is label it with additional clear text. It looks nice.

Over head view would be nice with 3D
