After some events with a person on MSN who didn't masturbate due personal and religious reasons I read up on the catholic and masturbation. It seems that the catholic religion indeed says it’s wrong to masturbate (http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/2964/masturbation2.html). However I feel that statement does not match the current time or the people.

Teenagers going through puberty have the wet dreams (but some many not have a single one at all and still be perfectly ok). Some may get these wet dreams until they die but most of the time they stop at around 17-18. This is because the body starts to control itself and stop producing sperm. Even though most religious people may consider masturbation as a *bad* act. However it seems that not masturbating is a bad act because it could lead to one destroying himself. I do not believe any religion says that a person should knowingly destroy them self’s.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erotic_sexual_denial (under Long term denial) it seems modern science has proven that it is a good act and gives protection to things such as prostate cancer. I believe cancer did not exist at the time the rules of the catholic religion was made. (God has given us a brain to think use it! Don’t let God tell you what is wrong and right)

If the argument is pleasuring yourself is selfish look through your past. You could have given that tasty food plate to a hungry beggar. You could have given all your money to poor people and become a beggar but what will happen to your children? In this modern world things don't come for free. We save money for a reason. And just like that people masturbate for a reason(s) such as pleasure and protection from cancer and other prostate related problems. People like to eat testy food because it feels good to eat tasty food and people masturbate because it feels good and protects there body.

Some rules of the catholic religion is far out of date in my point of view. I know a family that got divorced because the guy couldn't have sex (a sexual dysfunction from birth), the guy didn't know it until he attempted it. If he wasn't so religious and checked if he can do it he could have explained to the girl that he can't do it and she probably wouldn't have married him. At the end the girl lost her virginity and had trouble finding another man because of our countries cultural issues.

I do believe no religion would say it’s correct to destroy a girls dream to have kids. We live to full fill our desires actually that’s all we do in life. If there was no desire in a person he would have to die.

I remember that somewhere in the bible it Jesus said to a guy "give all your belongings to the people and join me" even though it was said, no one with the right mind could do that today because there aren’t many jungles or free food to eat. If a guy gave up everything he had and joined the church he would be living off the donations and the money of other people. While he may say god gives me food to eat it is you who many be donating and feeding him. The Fathers enjoy life because they have everything they want because other people are giving the church money and all he has to do is conduct the masses -> helping some people learn religion -> eating -> sleeping. But he is a person that can use his arms and legs to earn and give money to others. Come to think of it being a father is way too much fun lol.
