-DSG- Rapid Progress + SPRITING TUTORIAL :D

Posted by DSG on July 4, 2012, 10:13 p.m.

My screen recorder is on the fritz, so here are some screen shots ^^ As you can see, I've made some quick progress. With the game completed in my mind, the rest is a cakewalk.

[EDIT] I made a quick tutorial below, how to make a 96x128 pixel boss sprite in 39 minutes!!

I can't seem to be able to come up with ambient music for the RUUN TEMPLE [the underground ruins] for the life of me. Any musicians out there who want to write a series of fitting melodies? I'll end up remixing it if I like it lol

This is the mask of the FIRST GOD BOSS, DASHU. This took 39 minutes, and that includes the 10 minutes or so it took to draw up a tutorial.

hope you can tell what i'm talking about

Can I borrow your graphical capabilities for a few months? It'll be fast, I swear.

I wish I was possessed by an ancient Sumerian pixel-art god, too.

How the hell do you make graphics so fast? It takes me hours to finish a tile.

You take a "Photo" from your mind. and then you put it into a special "shop".

Rinse with hues and saturation and repeat.

Actually, I've been utilizing the hell out of the GM8 image editor. I outline a sprite, then usually fill it black or something, then set the opacity to like, 10% and use black and white to shade with layers. then I copypasta that into Ps to color it and usually use a 2-tone color scheme. I also use simple brushes and blurred layers behind pixel-sharp layers for shadows, and I also LOVE using black and white brushes with the Vivid Light setting, makes for a quick but powerful tool set all together. Maybe I'll post another blog about how I do my pixel art. Ah, hell. Yea, I will

It would be much appreciated. I know you did it a while ago… but you should save me the trouble of having to sift through all your Depths restarts to find it.
