[col=red]censored[/col] up in general

OK. I admit. I'm a TTD addict. I feel crap now because I deleted a save game whereof I made no backups. 30 virtual years (6 hours I guess) to hell. DAMN IT.

I have no idea what all of the fuss is about here. Put SIMPLY a EULA is a set of "guidleines" that are VERY generic. They CAN'T EVER apply to every single use of the program and so you need to use some COMMON SENSE and INTERPRET what the EULA is saying. Bottom line is we don't want anyone to steal our IP, in particular by reverse engineering the code, but less specifically general theft of parts of or all of Game Maker.

For example, we "Reserve the right" via the EULA to object to any extreme applications of the code…FOR EXAMPLE anyone writing a game that excplicitly incites racial hatred will be stopped. It is REALLY DIFFICULT to cover in detail EXACTLY what we mean…as I said to someone else who sent me mail…"one person's definition of pornography is another person's definition of culture"….

The PROBLEM is you CAN'T write one piece of prose that is less than 20 pages long and covers all of this SPECIFICALLY,so EVERY EULA is GENERIC and shouldn't be read word by word and line for line….that is plain ridiculous and immature (note I don't say Childish as I HATE seeing that word used so frequently on the Glog and on the GMC…I respect you guys whatever your age !!).

The GM6 EULA wasn't written by a lawyer…and so it has more user friendly language which sadly reduces the power to enforce it legally…sad, but true. So we've had to change that.

The EULA in GM7 is VERY generic and was provided by our lawyer with NO specific brief to change anything you guys have reasonably done in the past or in the future…it's not perfect and we are open to making sensible changes ….. but NOT a word by word reading of it's implications. BTW our lawyer works for many games developers in the UK and this EULA is based on what he has used in the past to protect their games from illegal copying…so it's not a bad piece of work and relevant to our industry…

Having said all of that…..we need to provide you with a EULA for your OWN code as that IS a requirement that has changed and is meant to protect the bits of GM7 that you ship with your product in the same way as above and ALSO to PROTECT YOUR WORK PROPERLY !!! The "Developer's" EULA will be on the website when it goes into full Beta in the next …… (soon :-))

BOTTOM LINE ….this EULA isn't meant to change anything you have been doing that is legal and REASONABLE. What we're developing in the YoYo website is a COMMUNITY of people who want to Play and Develop games that entertain them….at the end of the day I hope and expect it will be the COMMUNITY and not YoYo or (worst nightmare) a court, that will decide what is and isn't appropriate.

Look. That noob(ine?, sandy SOUNDS like a girl to me) started a new company, but lacks the skill to:

Calm down

Spell

Use the forum software to even upload a freaking avatar

Use BBcode

Make a proper statement

Let me understand the point.

And that's suposed to run a company. Yay.

Transport Tycon Deluxe? That is one of my all time favourite games. It's easy to get addicted to, and waste a whole day on it. The best thing is the multiplayer version (which is on Open TTD). I've played a huge multiplayer game before. I'm probably gonna get addicted again now D=

Yes IT appears that SHE does, JAKEX.

Also, the way she wrote that, it sounds like she is planning on sueing(sp?) people. Why did she put a random(and radnom) quote on the bottom though?

He does it to help emphasize points, although it'd probably be better for his reputation if he used italics instead.

Additionaly, E-Magination, you need to be pragmatic - to be able to see both sides. For instance:

"Calm down"

He's been under a ton of pressure, and when you're under pressure, things can be hard.

melee-master: Yeah, I think that in general when a person in power takes to the general public they find ways to make fun of him (yeah its a guy, we aren't 3, calling him a girl isn't funny).
