I bet everyone remembers that Super Mario Bros. 3 engine made by a user called "DrJellik".

K, this time I'm doing a replica of the SMB3 engine with Game Maker: Studio from scratch

I may not have told this to anyone, but even though I dislike most fan games, I like Mario fan games, maybe because I enjoyed them when I was a kid. They are sometimes better than the new Mario games Nintendo makes (and definitely more challenging).

a mario fangame inspired me to become a game maker, and that lead to the atrocity that is Lost Silver and the trainwreck that Cursed Black currently is

My logic allows mechanics copying =P

Are you telling me that you couldn't enjoy game with Mario's mechanics but with original story and characters?

i needs my mario

Well, then you are part of the problem =P

…Do I really want to be a game developer?

NeutralReiddHotel 9 years, 1 month ago

no, i am part of YOUR problem. i enjoy my fandom. it's not a problem for me at all

i can tell you that your foundation of wanting to be a game developer is super shaky if one disagreement makes you wonder whether you want to do it or not. are you doing this to please people or because you REALLY want to do it?

beautiful, Steven .

I agree with you, Steven.

Through I think that analogy with the chair is not entirely correct.

Chair is good as long as it's comfortable.

Game is good when it's comfortable AND interesting.

You can't make something interesting, without doing something different each time.

But you can't make it too original either.

It's in the dosing, not enough is as bad as too much.

If there's something the internets and IRL people have shown me, is that

This is not what an agreement looks like. This is like a faux agreement to make the other person feel better. You don't have to nod along and pretend you agree, it's condescending. It's OK to have a different opinion. Hell, I respected your different opinion at least no matter how wrong it was. But nodding along to something you don't really agree with isn't respect worthy at all.
