I hate wasting my time

So I decide, hey it's been awhile since I wrote a blog on the 64D. So, I start blogging away about my latest projects and what I've been up to, the usual stuff that appears on the blogs in 64D. I had this nice blog that stretched about a full page. It was long, had alot of information, and just when I finish it I see an error and I go to fix it. I click on the word and go to press backspace real fast. The entire blog was highlighted and erased. At first I'm thinking, I can just undo that. Right click > look for undo > fail. I couldn't undo the backspace and so I wasted a good 30 minutes or so. It annoys the hell out of me when I do things like that.

Erased blogs… Or when you're working on a game and you've been going at it for a few hours now and you close it without saving.I feel like reacting like this German Kid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2QxLpS3aIM But the last thing I need to do is destroy my computer over it, right? Still… It's little things like that, that get to me. I hate wasting my time. They should start a game maker's version of the FML site. I could submit entries everyday on the careless and stupid mistakes that waste my time when developing things.

I was working with GM6 today and I was working on a sprite sheet that I scanned onto my computer and colored with Photoshop. So I decided I would try to divide things up using the image editor in GM6 and just copy and paste parts of the spritesheet into individual sprites. Easy stuff. So I get about 50 sprites done and all of a sudden an error pops up about replacing a sprite when I exit out of the spritesheet. The same error that pops up when you use very large images and GM6 decides to epically fail on controlling all the pixels. There went 2 hours of working on animations. I had to use task manager to end the program. It froze.

FML, being careless sucks… My advise? Don't be a dumbass, back things up. Your time is valuable.

Lost time sucks.

I was a little dissapointed by that video, I expected more destruction…

What Scott said. That is why I:

- Usually type out blogs somewhere where I can save them and then copy-paste onto 64D.

- Press Ctrl-S every few seconds if I'm writing something or working on a game.

- Keep everything on a flashdisk in case of harddrive trouble, but keep a backup on my harddrive in case of flashdisk trouble, and make backup DVDs every once in a while.

CTRL-S is your saviour. Learn about him, and become his friend.

See F1ak3r is smart. Wish I wasn't so lazy and actually tried to back up everything lol. I normally save my games every few minutes, but sometimes I forget to and end up suffering for that. My .GB1 files are my backups. It sucks when they say "Last Modified: 2 hours ago" xD.

I usually write it out in notepad, you can't trust the internet for nothing. And usb drives are great for storage, espicially now that they're getting so cheap. Alternatively, SD cards and the likes make better backups then cds, they don't decay…as quickly.

Control + Z would have got your blog back. :F

Unlucky, but that's life, eh?

There's more important things to life than a lost blog.
