HeyJD is here!

Hi,

I am HeyJD!

I am new here as you guys probably already know.

So how I got here you ask? Well lots of people on another IRC I was on kept on talking about the 64digits IRC. So I asked everyone what's 64digits like. They told me and said I should go to their IRC. So I did. Then I met a really nice guy called Extravisual(mod) on the IRC. I asked him if I should join 64digits. He said I should if I want. So here I am with a special thanks to Extravisual!

What will I do with this account? Well I don't have a clue yet.

Have you ever made games before? Yes I have, with GM! I have made 2 official Games with Game Maker. one of them is uploaded on yoyogames. I might upload it here, if I have time though.

Any other things? Well I made my Avatar with GIMP and I am quite proud of it! Most likely I won't do much with this acount. And some thanks goes to all the mods on the 64digits IRC for being so nice to me!

I hope I'll quickly fit in. This is HeyJD signing off

But it was the IRC people on 64digits that told me yyg is stupid, bad and awful.
Maybe you don't have experience with the seeming majority of YYG users as we see it. To be honest, I've met some okay people over there. But it really ruins the experience when you decide to make a game and get flamed/downrated for absolutely no reason.

Sure we have our clowns here too, but they're much easier to pick out and control, due to the size and dedicated moderation.

Welcome to 64Digits. The people who talk poorly about us are usually the ones who can't handle sarcasm, or just overall make themselves look like idiots.

Oh yeah, and we've set the bar for game making. Submitting Click the Clown (ball, face, suppository bullets, whatever you say it is) is looked down upon, as is making a 1945 clone. We respect innovation, interesting stories/gameplay, and most of all, originality.

Those who can't make anything more interesting than Click the Clown don't get much respect, and therefore get angry that their "best efforts" were shunned. If you're really into GM, you'll put time into your work. If you're just learning, keep your submissions back for a while and ask for help.

After all, we don't want another Mad Science Gone Wrong.

Well I had a totally difference experience… I made a good game and everything good happened to it. High rating and good comments. BTW Flaming comments you should always report and the mods will delete it.

This site has most of the same BBCode you'd find in any other forum setup, and then some.

Now are we talking about the YYG game submissions or the forums? Because both are pretty different. On the boards, I saw many more intelligent users, while the main site is the one where I got constantly downrated. I don't remember if there's a report link in those game submissions, but if it doesn't get rid of the 1/5 they gave me, it's worth nothing.

I'm glad you had a good experience with it, though. Don't let us put you down. We've all just seen the bad sides. And a lot of us were there for years, so it's not like we say this out of nowhere.

If things change a bit more, it might be worth it to swing by for more game hype. But being falsely rated is a really valid reason to steer clear of that place.

See what I'm getting at?
