Detailed Normal Mapped Model

Posted by Indecom4000 on Nov. 28, 2007, 6:01 p.m.

Here i'm going to show you, the model that i showed you before, exactly as you saw it last time, then i'm going to show you the exact very same model again, without a normal map to prove to you that i's not just some really high poly model, but in fact a very high quality normal mapping job.

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q27/indecom/Demon%20with%20armor/4B83EA5C-2160-44A5-876F-13968AE6036.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket"></a>

Now here are two shots of that same model, one with a wireframe overlay, and one smooth shaded.

I'm tired of arguing about what to call this so, for the sake of political correctness, i'm just calling it detailed. Although on the other forums i've posted this, nobody has a problem with me calling it next gen since they actually know what i'm talking about. But for you, i'm calling it detailed. So can we stop arguing about it?

Nobody is saying your models are bad. Except maybe sk8, and he hates everyone - nobody takes him seriously. I don't and neither should you.

Be happy with your skill and use it - if anything be glad that some people are jealous they can't do what you can.

Thank you. I'm personally done with bickering over this because its not worth it. Like i said earlier, i will continue to post my updates here, because there are still some people who seem to take interest in them. I've actually been giving models of mine away for the past few years, and in actuality i've only made a total of $5.50, pocketed from my models, well, one of them. I've had over 10,000 downloads from one model alone, though the download count resets every time i make a change/update to it, but i've been keeping track. People liked that one a lot, so i decided to do a complete pack. Anyways, you can expect 3 to 4 other characters in this package, a devil, which is similar to this demon, only skinnier and taller, with horns and a more goat like appearance, a succubus which is similar to a female version of the devil, sexy looking, tall slender, long hair, and deer legs. A zombie, because those are pretty popular, and they could be roaming hell, or hell could be overpopulated and they could be roaming the earth instead, and maybe some sort of demon wraith with a cloak and mystical evil powers.

THis is really good! Very nice work with the model and texture! This is high quality and for the price of 30$?! :O thats cheap! If I were you I would raise the price to 50$ cuse all teh crap other ppl actually do and they actually saell it for at least 100$!! But u didn't wanna make such a huge profit of it and I can understand you, just getting something sold is just a big deal!! Well good luck and when I'll start with 3d games I'll get in touch! ;)

Anihilate the ugly seams where the model/texture map has been mirrored horizontally.

Indecom4000 18 years, 3 months ago

I've already addressed that problem since this was posted. Its not a mirroring problem, its actually caused by the model being split in half, as you can tell from the smooth shaded shot, there are still the seems, without any normal map texture. But in the next shots of the model, it wont be that way.

I want to see something you have made.

Indecom4000 18 years, 3 months ago

Okay, i made that demon. That's mine, from scratch, though i used a base mesh to create the torso, its mine.

Here is something else i made, textured, i have a rigged version saved on my pc, this one is not it: http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/291907

I also made this, for this pack, its the zombie character, untextured, as its still a wip: http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q27/indecom/zombienormals.png

I made this tombstone quite some time ago, last year i think: http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q27/indecom/tombstone2.png

and these are a bunch of random things:

I hope that satisfies, a lot of stuff there, though that isnt all i've created, its all i can find posted online at the moment.

Dang you're good! I wish I could do all that.

Indecom4000 18 years, 2 months ago

Thank you. I'll be putting everything i know about art together for this package, polygonal modeling, texturing from source photos and from imagination, model rigging and animation, and the funnest part, sculpting the details for the normal map in zbrush. I urge anyone interested in high detail 3d modeling to play with the trial, you can go to zbrushcentral.com for a gallery things people have done with it. its really very good.

Okay, i've been working on the texture a lot today, only the upper torso so far, but its coming along greatly. Dont mind the unusual white spots, that is a glitch within zbrush's projection master and will be all ironed out by the time i get into the photoshop editing of the texture.
