[EDITED] Shadow Vigilante (SV Devlog #1)

So, I've started a new game project I will inevitably not finish. This game is a 2.5D Sandbox Style Beat-'em-up with RPG Elements. All environments are rendered in 3D, while characters and objects are 2D sprites, and usually walk along a 2D plane. Here is a recent screenshot:

Update:

Fixed those lines people were complaining about. ;)

The game will actually wind up feeling more like an action RPG than a beat-'em-up, most of the time. You will have seven attributes that determine your character's normal abilities. (Strength, intelligence, dexterity, etc.) You can add onto these attributes as you level up. However, you will also learn some very ab-normal abilities as you level up. These are powerful skills that can be used in combat, and some of them can also be used out of combat. These haven't yet been coded, but let me give you a brief description of the first three that you will get:

Camouflage

Obtained at level 2

Makes your character virtually invisible to the average person for a limited time, so long as you keep still. As you level up this skill, you will be able to stay undetected if you move, and even some noises will be masked by this skill.

Fear

Obtained at level 2

Strike paralyzing fear into the heart of your opponents. Weak minded people will easily be overwhelmed, higher levels of mastery allow you to use this skill on more strong minded foes.

Shadow Fire

Obtained at level 2

You are covered in flames that pose no threat to you, but will burn anyone who touches you. Does more damage as the skills' mastery level increases.

Constructive comments are appreciated. I'll probably post more info on the game tomorrow.

That… sounds.. really cool. I hope you finish it, I love beat em ups.

I suggest trying to get rid of the lines that appear between your 3D street boxes.

Very nice, I like it.

I thought the lines on the sides of the streets added to the comic-esque feel of the graphics, but that's just my opinion :) I'd definitely pick this up.

I think it looks and sounds great so far! Looking forward to it. I agree with getting rid of the lines though. Good luck!

Looks super clean.

That looks great. Reminds me of Experimental. I really like your art style - the evil black lines give everything a very distinct look.
