I'll Stab Mozilla With a Spoon!

Seriously… Firefox is crashing. Often. And I'm not just talking a-

Yep, it crashed while typing it. The little hyphen denotes where it crashed while I was typing.

It can crash as often as 5-8 times in a single sitting of use - that can USUALLY range from 2-5 hours (with OR without breaks in between). This didn't happen with Firefox 3.x It crashed but not like this. It occasionally did.

Firefox 4 betas/release candidate(s)? Flawless. No problems at all.

Firefox 4? Nope. Go to your room and have a time out. BAD firefox. :(

Honestly? I'd rather not use Opera and DEFINITELY not Chrome (bad experience with both). I'm using……

wait for it…

wait for iiiit……

…..Internet Explorer 9.

Somehow I'm using it. And I'm liking it. I feel like I betraying a browser I've liked but… Until Mozilla get's their crap together I'm using IE for anything important enough to not have crash on me.

Anyone have any ideas? Firefox's IRC channels had no help (ignored or stupid ideas that didn't work) and posting on the forums yields replies on how people have these problems… but no solutions. :/

I use Chrome, but have been trying to transition to Firefox for a few reasons, mostly features Chrome doesn't have. But some qualms I have with Firefox are limiting me from completely converting, so I kind of use both depending on the situation (Chrome crashes when using the unity web player, whereas FF does not).

Are browser exploits really that common? I've been using IE my entire life and never had issues lol, but they do have the built in filters and stuff so I guess that takes care of everything.

Strange that it crashes for you; I've been running Firefox 4 since the beta and it's been fast and stable. I've not seen a single reason to switch to Chrome. Switching to IE or Opera would be downright humiliating.

I run FF4 on Win7x64 too, and have slight crashing issues. It's about once every few days, and seems to happen just whenever - I've left it idling on about:blank and had it crash, for example. It's slightly irritating, but it restarts fast enough that my annoyance is never great enough to actually figure out what the problem is.

I can't find myself using anything *but* chrome.

The speed and screen real estate is unmatched and I really don't give a fuck about any extensions beyond noscript

I like FF because it's the BESTEST BROWSER[1]

Well, maybe not, but it can do everything I want my browser to do exactly how I want it, unlike the others.

What are you guys doing with your browsers to crash them so often? No browser has ever crashed for me. FF never crashed when I used it, Chrome has never done that either, and Opera never crashed what little time I spent using it.

If you guys could say if you have a 32 or 64 bit version of windows, I might be able to figure something out… Something is telling me that it could be due to my OS and other plugins… but I really don't know.

Well, I'm using a 32bit build, and as WoW64 is pretty much perfect, I doubt the specific architecture plays much of a role.

Looks like you better backtrack and use IE. Trololol.
