In my game, I have been thinking of making a separate .exe for the tutorial, downloaded separately. My game is fairly complicated, and I hate adding too many objects. It lags for a second when you open the small folders under objects, etc, and it annoys me. Alot. So I just made a small simple tutorial, a different .exe.
When I was done, it was 2.6mb, and 1.3mb~ish when zipped. Would you rather have the tutorial built-in, or just a separate .zip file you dl?Also for a side question, my sounds are about 500kb zipped.. should they be dled separate or together? Seems like a fairly small amount, and it would be an inconvenience, but I dunno.
AH! It's so…SHORT.
No, keep the tutorial in-game. It's pointless to have it outside.Sounds can be kept outside, but use external sound reading to play them.If you don't like the object-flicker thing, make seperate GMKs & then "Merge Game" once you're done
Have the tutorial separate and have the main game execute it when you want to? Just an idea.
Wouldnt two EXE's just take up twice as much space?
Probably, though I don't know how much more.
If you need another whole exe just for a tutorial, then your game is WAY too complicated.
In-game tutorial would be better for the player's stand point.
alright, its ingame. thanks for the suggestions :)
Yes, In-game FTW.
GM is a giant piece of shit anyway, and with recent events, all your code is belong to anyone that wants it anyway. So meh. <[blk]/optimistic rant>
