64D RPG #02

So the feedback for the 64D RPG, as far as people helping has been great! I've written some more information about the game, with the broad concepts of the game. I've put it up on google docs, so you can all look it over and comment on it. (to comment on something in gdocs, highlight the text, and press ctrl+alt+m, or go to insert->comment)

If you comment on text, don't forget to sign it with your username.

Google docs entry for the 64D RPG

Most of the detail will be left up to the particular developer, as far as the mechanics and look of battles, and all that. (or I can direct people as they begin to develop that part. As I declared to Chiken: I am the great envisioner)

I'll need to write something about elemental damage, and giving your weapons/armour elemental enchantments to fight better against certain enemies (or other players), I suppose.

Now what I need from you guys, is input on monsters, items, weapons, elements (for crafting), and spells. Here is a link to a google docs spreadsheet that anyone should be able to edit:

Input Spreadsheet

At the bottom of the spreadsheet are tabs for different things. Just go nuts, and make it all free form. I made column headers that I hoped would be good enough, but just write whatever/however you want, and I'll sort it out later. Just put whatever you want into it - it's better to have to sift through too much, than be stuck with not enough and have to come up with my own ideas. =P

So yeah, go add comments to the gdocs document, and add things to the spreadsheet. For anything else, comment below. In the next day or two I'll put up something for developers to join in on (Chiken's already started, and I want to get this sorted out better, so I can give developers some guidance in what to do/where to start)

Don't stop posting. This needs to be populated, and it doesn't matter who does it. >:(

WHERE IS EVERYONE ELSE

I figure that once development on V4 is serious at least parts of the RPG implementation would need to be rewritten. Did any of you take that into account?

I will never know if you took it into account or not before I asked that question.

Before :p

I have played alot of the original Zelda's and final fantasies so i know what you're looking for, I think. I'm not a developer or anything but I do have quite an imagination, so I can add some things if you'd like :) I have I couple questions though:

Are you going to want to craft things like armor and potions and special items too?

Do you want specific spells other than the basic 'water' and such?

Do you want quest ideas?

Xemic: If Steam kept chat logs, you would be able to know if it was taken into account before hand. =P

Seleney: To answer your questions:

1) Yeah, I'd like to be able to craft all the armour/weapons. As for the potions and special items, I'd like to be able to craft some of them, but not all of them (so that it adds to the preciousness of certain things). I'd like each weapon/armour to have a stats range, too. So for example when you craft or find a sword, its damage would end up being between 10 to 15.

2) I'm not sure if I want specific spells other than the basics. You can add more than the basics if you want, but I'm leaning more towards just the basics, so it's easier to program. On the other hand, exceeding just the basics adds variety and lets players discover more things.

3) Yes please. =3 I'm not very creative at all, so quest ideas would be great. (I'll add another spreadsheet tab at the bottom for the quest ideas)

FSX: I've only seen the old v4temp folder. Maybe I should log into the backend again >_>

I'm not so great with RPG stat balancing, but I may be able to contribute some artwork.

That'd be cool, 'cause I think I offended Cyrus with my dictating no animal-human hybrids. :(

Do you think you could draw a mockup of a player in a dungeon room, based on the description in the document? Both so we have a mock up to look at, and so I can see if my description was done well enough?
