Fractree - Now with Extra Pretty

Posted by fprefect111 on July 25, 2006, 6:03 a.m.

I've been working more on Fractree… only about 30 minutes, but the actual tree generation seems to be as finished as it needs to be now. It looks a whole lot nicer with the color and glowy lines. Even better, sometimes they end up looking kind of like an actual tree! Well, in an abstract way…

What do you think?

All I have to do now is make it user-friendly: Give it a menu that lets you change the settings and re-generate the trees without having to restart the thing.

It should be ready to submit by Friday, provided I don't have much homework to do.

I'm lazy, I'll get it user-friendly by tomorrow evening, Australian time. I could use .ini files, but that might scare people off.

Looking sweet!

looks awesome! The problem is they look too…regular, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, but that's pretty much the nature of the fractal.

I can fix up the engine some more and allow for more tree-like things, but this'll take time.

For now, it's not bad… besides, it's easier abstract. :)

Whoa, that's so cool.

That looks cool!

But as marbs said, they look too regular: they are the same only scaled/having other colours/bended…

Anyway keep working on it.

Awesome dust in the shape of a tree.

That's awesome. =D

Maybe add a function that saves the image as a .bmp (or better yet, transparent .gif) so we can generate trees and then actually use them in games.

Yeah, that's what the plan is. Should give it a bit of use. :)

Wait, what could I use to generate a transparent .gif?

Try looking for an image conversion DLL, or just make sure that the bottom-right pixel is the background colour if you want to make it GM-exclusive.
