Mean Virus :(

Posted by gtvg on Jan. 5, 2008, 1:13 a.m.

I think I've got it to work. :) Thanks for comments.

I recently downloaded a file and extracted it onto my desktop. (it wasn't porn, seriously) Immediately, my virus program caught a trojan horse. I healed it. I scanned C drive for stuff. It caught 14 trojans. I scanned again later, 2 more trojans.

Now, my computer is very slow and the taskbar turns on and off, about every five seconds. I attempted system restore but it cannot execute because C drive doesn't have enough space <_< So… Windows Explorer turns off along with the taskbar so I can't delete any files to run System Restore.

Anyone know how to fix this? I currently have my virus program scanning.

I also download Security Task manager or something like that. It shows 4 processes as 92% risk. They are:

mljgf.dll

byxxuut.dll

mljgf.dll

byxxuut.dll

Yes, they are repeated.

I really need help in clearing this out.

This is why you don't change your username, evah.

I can't help, I'm an idiot when it comes to deleting viruses. >_<

Get into safe mode and see if this is still going on there.

Oh… crap… :D

Yeah, throw it in safe mode. System restore is a bitch anyway.

Sounds like a good excuse for getting a new computer xD Anyway you can always boot the computer with the install disk and then format it (if there is no other solution of cource, I won't be happy to do that either :P)

Also, make sure you are NOT connected to the internet while removing the trojan horse ;)

Yup, pull out whatever you connect to the net with, boot into safe mode, start up the command prompt, and work from there.

Failing that, transfer everything you want to keep to a portable hard drive, or DVD or whatever, and reformat. Your computer will run faster, and you'll have more space.

Also, get Linux.

What's your anti-virus? I's suggest Avira AntiVir (free).

Mean virus? Have you ever seen a nice virus then? One that asks you "Would you like a virus, if so, please backup your files first"?

Anyway get into safe mode and KILL EVERYTHING. I mean tasks ofcourse…

I have AVG Free. It's not that great because it's only for viruses.
