New SSB Engine

[SSB ENGINE]

You don't see many Super Smash Bros. Engines around here. I'm making one, and hopefully it'll be pretty cool.

I've got down Character Selection, Teams, and two attacks. I duplicated the menus almost perfectly from SSB Melee. I have 3 screenshots for you to see, as the engine isn't nearly enough done.

Here's the Main Menu:

And the Character Select:

And a picture of Samus charging up her gun:

<IMG SRC="http://64digits.com/users/jsorgeagames/SSE_3.PNG" WIDTH="600" HEIGHT="500" BORDER="0" ALT="Super Smash Engine Pic 3">

The third picture still needs a background besides the edited Peach's Castle. Over Samus's head is an icon that indicates the team she's on. Right now, Samus is the most complete character. The other two that are remotely close are Mario and Luigi. Peach and Zelda haven't been implemented yet.

I've been searching for most of the graphics that match. If you've ever played Super Smash Flash, you'll know that not all of the sprites were the same size, so the designer had to scale them.

And if you're crazy about polish, that's not good. Really.

So long.

Looks spiffy, too bad I'm on Wii.

The game looks pretty good…but it's hard to tell without a demo.

It looks like more effort was put into the menus than the gameplay, although I would like to try it. Put a big effort into balancing the characters.

Any fool can make an SSB engine, but only a few can make it feel like you're actually playing it.

Don't work on the menus, work on the gameplay.

Cookinater: How did you know? :) I'm working out the gameplay modes right now.

When I release it, no one complain about the number of objects. Mainly the only reason it has more than it could is for functionality, and it's easier to work with.

Nice, and like dabs said, any fool CAN make an SSB engine, but any fool can make anything, it takes a hell of a lot to get it to look and play GOOD! And from what I've seen, it looks goood!

One thing, that team indicator is a bit hard to see, though it might be better in motion.

Looks pretty sweet. Keep at it, because a lot of people would like to try.

@phazon yoshi: I'm going to add an outline around that has no alpha.

New Update: I just changed the simple circle effect on the charging to a blend moded energy ball. I'm going to add Phazon Tanks as items for Samus, Morph Ball, and Hyper Ball mode. Whatever my friend (who has Metroid Prime 3, I've only rented it) finds.
