Made this game with REZ.

Welcome to BUGHACK.

The idea for the game was to include roguelike mechanics based on how ants find food through scents.

You are a leader ant who must lead worker ants to delicious harvest. Every sector you must gather a certain amount of harvest. Keep your ants safe, or you'll take damage! You must call ants out of an ant hole and then lead them to to fruit.

Press C in-game to see controls.

IF THE GAME IS TOO SMALL:

To fullscreen, hit F in game.

Alternatively, replace the occurrence tiles12x12_gs_ro.png in bughack.py with tiles18x18_gs_ro.png

Dependencies:

Python 2.X (32 bit is needed on windows)

SDL (included in Windows, needed on Linux)

RUNNING:

(Or on windows, right click main.py and run with python 2)

I find that roguelikes start out super difficult, until you understand the mechanics, at which point things become easier and you work at mastery of the gameplay, which is the secondary challenge.

I have to be in the mood for ASCII graphics X( Thanks for clearing things up guys :D

I'm pretty sure my wife and I played Azure Dreams for the ps1. I don't remember it very well :? I know I have Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, I'll have to try it. I've also played ADOM, sweet captain kirk's nipples is that game hard. I'm not sure if Demon's Souls is a roguelike or not, I played that and loved it.

I was also playing a permadeath MMO survival/RPG game awhile back online (Haven and Hearth). Haven and Hearth community is slowly dying tho (server issues, lag, a few bug exploits, broken game mechanics, community of turds), cos the creators are focusing on their commercial product Salem. RC is the guy that introduced Haven and Hearth to me. I've been told it's the only permadeath MMO that has a decent sized community. Two years ago the server had over 1,000 people online most of the time.

Sorry to derail X(
