Architecture: DDR SDRAM

Today, I was not sick, so I got to go to school. Oh goody, what fun I had. I got to fix my geometry teacher's computer. Well, fix in the sense that I pointed out that his computer clock was wrong, and then he asked me to take off Norton Anti Virus from the system. That was easy, way to easy. Really. If I didn't know he was a sports coach and health teacher as well, I would have thought him behind in the times, but coaches rarly know how to use a computer beyond a slightly sheltered pre-teen. Aka, install programs, run programs, write stuff, turning the system on, and turning it off.

I was a sheltered pre-teen in my pre-teen years, so I should know.

Anyway, my PC Support teacher started asking what kind of RAM I have. I'm not supprised she asked, seeing as I always complain about it in class. I said I don't know. I find that this computer can hold a gig of RAM, but to hold that much, I need 2 512MB sticks. You know, 512MB in it self would be a good improvement for this piece of junk. I can't help but think some more RAM is right around the corner.

And speaking of RAM, a friend recomended downloading FreeRAM XP Pro. So I did. While I had low RAM to begin with, it's still good to see something clear it up every now and then, and good to see how much I have to spend. Currently, I have… let it go through it's thing… 64MBs of RAM to spend, with InternetExporer running, Game Maker, and AIM. I had only 21MBs before it ran through it's thing. Once I get more RAM, I should start seeing a bigger difference.

In Game Maker news, I think I might work on a Pet game for the desk top (It's not like it's been done before, riiiiiiiiight?). Thats about it for today. Lets see how much my RAM jumps after I submit this, huh?

It went down to 47MBs.

And are made into tasty chicken tenders.

So juicy….

Seriously, Rochester sucks in that you have to go off campus for good chicken tenders.

Really? Norton is usually a complete twatting bastard to get rid of. I've had to remove it off several PCs. All these security passwords and a ton of seperate Norton programs you have to remove one by one - which takes about 6 years to uninstall.

At first a RAM freeing program looks great. Then when you realise that it steals RAM from running applications causing them to get tremendously sluggish, you see it isn't really so great after all.

The only thing they're good for is running them once after using something that eats a ton of RAM and doesn't free it up when you've closed it fast enough.

Nothing is wrong with being sheltered, sheltered is good. =D
