Have Some Terminys Progress!

Posted by Castypher on Nov. 16, 2013, 12:37 p.m.

I suppose today is a good day for an update. Since my last devlog, I've hired Taizen, who gleefully slaves away on things, making progress.

New time and lighting system for more world immersion. The time of day does things from affecting residents' schedules to opening dungeon areas to spawning dangerous enemies on the field at night. Please don't mind the dunce behind me.

AI now allows for complex state handling, which is adjusted by several factors including the player's status, the enemy types, and the boss's phase.

Naked people!

Netherwraiths are a new addition that appears every full moon. They're complicated, difficult boss fights that ban EP regen and spontaneously create Dead Zones, which casters have difficulty casting in.

Make way for Bree the fighting lamppost!

The present god is pleased!

I'm also creating a survival horror game in Unity called Summer's End, focused around manipulating earth energy to create tools, and delving into a tower of dead people solving puzzles and discovering what happened to them. It's a project I plan to finish within the next year or so, so more on that later.

I like your health bars.

I almost mistook this for twilight realm, then scrolled down and saw it was a different art style and then saw purple and thought twilight realm/Kilin.

You really like that purple effect don't you?

You must appreciate how difficult it actually is to get Bree to focus in one direction.

It's harder than it looks.

So if I make one game centered around the color purple, I can't use it again?

Though, being known for purple effect-whoring bullet hell games isn't such a bad thing.

Well this game included, I've seen you make three with that effect, which isn't actually so much ^^'

It is quite a nice effect though >>

Wait, what effect are you talking about? This is the first time I've ever done glowy shit as bullets, or that animated ring effect. Also, Taizen created and named the pattern. TTR had bullet sprites instead.

Also for the record, Terminys came first and had the whole blue versus purple deal going on. TTR came much later and I just chose the color purple to work with because it was appropriate. Any theming you see is purely coincidental (though I do enjoy the color purple).

I like purple pretty things :D. Looking cool though, like the art style :D. The interface looks great, so simple yet shows lots of information. Summers end sounds really cool as well, can't wait to see how that turns out :D
