I don't think the war is a good solution. And also the LTTE uses the Tamils as human shields in war. In addition they kidnap Tamil children and make them child solders and when the children die they do the respect of returning the bodies (the future of Sri Lanka and the Tamil Community). Also it is known that the LTTE forces the Tamils to give there valuables they own such as Gold to buy weapons etc. And it is known that they charge every Tamil doctor a tax of about $200+ why is the world only complaining about the Sri Lankan Government? Is the world community a hostage of the LTTE?
OK, I looked it up, the Veddahs are the oldest group on the island… give the whole thing to them. And both the Tamils and Sinhala have been on Sri Lanka for a long time, with many Tamil being brought in as near-slaves by colonial British plantation owners. The 2004 tsunami that devastated much of the south pacific brought a short period of peace to Sri Lanka, but that broke down. The Tamil are mostly Hindu, and the Sinhala are mostly Buddhist. Giving the Tamil regions more autonomy (but not necessarily total independence) would probably meet the demands of most of the Tamil people and therefore decrease the support base of the LTTE. There is no way to defeat a locally supported terrorist/guerilla army through military action alone, and the Sri Lankan government must do a better job of reaching out to the Tamil community if they hope to ever stop this conflict.
