Noob Page and Job

So I added the noob page to the site.

Noob Page

You can add your own noobs if you want to. Enjoy it.

So I got a phone call from my friend's mom the other day. She said that someone she knew needed a programmer for something and it could be big. So he called me and he needed someone to make 4 web pages for him for this new company. We talked on the phone for a bit and scheduled a meeting for today.

So we met at Applebee's and he told me his idea. All I can tell you is that it has to do with VOIP dealing with international customers, I had to sign a non-disclosure agreement. To make a long story short, I get 10% company profits, make 75% of what he does, and be lead programmer. If we only get 1% of the user base to sign up for the service, I would make a minimum of $100,000 a year. For 1%. I shit myself. He's estimating at least 10%, that's an extremely conservative amount(it's a very popular idea). That's a million. He said I'd have a few nice cars by Christmas.

So I'm working on the sites already. He expected about a few months to complete them, I told him I'd have them done in a week or so. If you're asking why me? He wanted someone local(he's only 40mins away), someone he has connections to, and someone without a degree. Why not a degree? A degree doesn't show much. All it says is that you went to school. It doesn't show that you love to do it, which I do and will get it done fast as opposed to a veteran programmer who will take a while to do it.

So, I might be rich by the end of the year =D

Awesome on the job, dude. Keep us posted!

PS: Make damn sure you cut your friend's mom a piece of your first check, OK?

Nice work but I don't get why he wants someone without a degree. I could see him not minding either way but just because you have a degree doesn't mean you don't love what you do.

1. Dealing with international customers?

2. Sign a non-disclosure?

3. You would make a minimum of $100,000 a year?

4. He said I'd have a few nice cars by Christmas?

This doesn't sound right. As a Nigerian trained to avoid all the crap my country produces, this sounds like 419 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance_fee_fraud ). And if he is not telling you what he needs the site for and claims that it will be HUGE then it is indeed a scam. BE CAREFUL!

this sounds too good to be true

True, but he's been in the industry for a while(he's 52) and he said he's had better work done by highschool drop outs than college graduates.

I know it sounds too awesome, but this guy made the first ISP in our region(Global One) and is currently the CEO of a large phone company nearby. He has told me what he needs and has told me how everything works. Believe me, I was skeptical at the meeting.
