Celebs...why them?

Posted by lostprophetpunk on Aug. 3, 2008, 7:22 a.m.

I was working for quite a long time yesterday (around 10 hours), and I came across a thought whilst reading some stuff in the newspaper.

Why do people love to get the latest news on celebs when they are not working? I mean come on, they actually have to live a life themselves rather than be surrounded by people with cameras all the time.

I now realise that celebs are not really special, there are just your average person, they just have a little bit of individuality about them. Hence why people like to get the latest news on them.

The thing is though, half the stuff the news it actually based on is not actually to do with the celebs job or special talent etc, it is mainly to do with what they do in the real world such as shopping, or sitting down having a cigarette whilst having some coffee at a local cafe.

Seriously, because celebs get enough attention through what they do for a living (sing, act etc), so why would they need more attention when they are relaxing and just living their normal lives?

The photographers really only do these kind of things for the money, as they really probably have nothing else to do other than expose celebs living a normal daily life.

The thing that pisses me off is when people prefer to talk about angelina jolie and brad pitt having twins over the nearing presidential election. Because two people having kids is so much more important than deciding which monkey runs our country.

I agree with Dr. Horrible.

And because of the wonders of capitalism and the free market, the news sources do get money for that. In fact, people so love reading about what kind of coffee Britney-freaking-Spears likes to drink that the overwhelming trend in newspapers is to go from publishing important news to publishing celeb crap.

Thank you, consumer society.

Paparazzi match lawyers on the "low" level. Has there ever been a recorded case of a celebrity opening their front window with a gun and shooting them?
