I've been using Game Maker far longer than I've been a part of the 'generalized' Game Maker community. Mark's website was NOT user friendly. I've probably been using Game Maker since 2005, although I could not guarantee this (it's not like I wrote down the day I downloaded it!)
This stems from the fact that I hadn't discovered the internet as a discussion tool until my early teens. Mind you, I was a noob (and perhaps I still am! :P) when I joined the GMC (after stalking the place for 6 or so months). Regardless, the YoYo acquisition happened some time after, so I couldn't 'grow up' as a member and hear of 64digits… by the time I started finishing (horrendous) stuff, YoYo Games was in full swing. For my generation of Game Makers, there was never any need for sites like 64digits. If you wanted to upload something, you went to YoYo Games (at least for the lazier people like me). Then, apparently (I cannot be sure about this), 64digits went through bad times? Or something. Thus, I skipped on 64digits.Today, after digging around for GM related stuff, I stumbled on the site, and the personal blogs of a bunch of members that have been… influential to the Game Maker Community at large. Needless to say, I was intrigued!Therefore, I opened up an account. I prolly won't use it much, but, heh, here I am.

Actually, I don't know of a lot of people that use 64Digits just for file hosting. That may have been the case four years ago, but lately it's just been about blogging, talking about game development or coding in general, and discussing games.
But beware. We tend to be pretty outspoken here, but if that doesn't bother you, then welcome, and enjoy your stay.@Kilin: I used to use it mainly as my personal file storage. =3
On topic: Welcome to 64D. I started using GM a few years before you, I think the first GM site I signed up to was GMG, then the GMC and GMClans (or Robosquid now) and 64D. I usually lurked around GMG way back when, although now I spend most/all of my time here. It's good for showcasing your stuff, getting feedback, random chatting, getting yiffed by Cyrus, etc.According to the GMC, I've been a user since August 2005. I had downloaded the program long before that - only I didn't understand how to use it at the time.
Welcome! I'm kinda in your "generation of GM users" I guess. Started in 2005, discovered Internet communities in 2007 (my oldest online account (that isn't my Steam account) is my YYG one), but our paths diverge there because I came to 64Digits in 2007 as well.
