Zero Point
It'll be a long time before I finish this ambitious shoot em up so here's the first level. You'll need a screen resolution of 1280 or more.

Arrow keys - move
Ctrl - shoot
Alt - absorb (and shoot) enemy fire
z/x - decrease/increase ship speed
Or use a gamepad.

If you have a less speedy computer there is also Zero Point Lite, which is the same but with almost 11MB less of background graphics and sound, for faster loading times and performance.

1 2 Next are simply amazing, however, so is the lag! :P

Haven't tried out the lite version though, might do that later.

The speed of the ship shouldn't need any modification, keep it simple
Ran fine with lite, though took a couple minutes to load
The rock part seemed a bit dragged on, as did the wormbrain. The first part of the wormbrain should be a lot shorter, because I was pretty much snoozing until the laser wheels
Well made, wish I could play the heavy version from the stuff I saw in that vid

This is the most amazing looking, not GM game, but 2D game I have ever seen. The gameplay is nice and simple, no learning curve whatsoever. I just gave up at that strange looking worm thingy ^_>. Ambient music is well chosen, sounds are amazing, graphics are amazing, very professionaly done. Let me tell you, if you take up game design as a profession, you will go far. 10/10

I didn't see a bit of lag, and that was absolutely amazing.

Started to remind me of Metroid in there, not sure how.
But that is the best complement I can give a game.

Ten out of ten.

Thanks everyone. Yeah I think if I want to take this further and into a full length game I'll have to not use game maker due to the lag (I've already got the code as efficient as I can make it), and loading times would get silly. Unless gm 8 is much faster.

Ran at perfect FPS for me. (Vista home premium, 2.4GHz dual core, 2GB RAM, 256MB ATI Radeon X1300 PRO)

That was a good thing, because the game was fantastic, from the music, to the graphics, to the gameplay, none of it seemed out of place.

It was possibly a little too easy, with unlimited continues, but that is expected for a demo. Overall, this is a 10/10, simply because I can't think of anything wrong with it. At all. Well done you. (Load took about 30seconds, though)

I don't have a special computer, jsut a standard Dell. Bu I had no lags and the loading time was not to long. The grafics were really cool and the gameplay fun. You should add some more weapons and story and you've got a very profesional game!

The end boss was really cool:
I'ma chargin' my lazor!!!

@ Slurpy
Josh spake about this project and Enigma. Perhaps it will be over 9000 times faster.

This looked great, the depth of field technique was phenomenal. Fullscreen should be an option though, I'd rather play it windowed.

It's shmups like this that make life so much better. Thumbs up!

Excellent visuals! The best I've seen in a GM shmup, very good work. I didn't lag much, only a bit on the level with the red vine things in the foreground, other than that I was fine.
Looking forward to level 2 ;)
