64D tour of California!

Posted by Ferret on April 26, 2012, 6:03 p.m.

Psh, I may not be a cool cat like FirestormX, but I still want to meet some 64Digitiers and hang out with them.

So this is what's going down:
I'm transferring colleges, so I'm leaving crappy Los Angeles and heading up north in my white Honda 99 CR-V. It will …

Lemme start off by saying yesterday I was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, so I got a certificate, and a rose, oh man, and this cool candle.

Guess that's cool, you only get a chance if you keep a 3.5 GPA or above, and I …

Hey everybody!

This past weekend I participated in Ludum Dare with a group of random folks I'd never met before. I provided most of the graphics and music, and I am pleased with the results. Behold!

Stream of conscience time: game development edition

So I wasn't planning on this being the longest game ever

Perhaps 100 to 140 minutes on a full playthrough would suffice

I've never dragged a game so far as 180 minutes so that might be a stretch

I am gonna have to …

Will.Code.For.ART

While I`m usually a part of a massive one-man-dev-team, the Summer compo is stretching it. Besides, I`m no good with 3D characters.

So, if some talented artist is looking for a coder that knows his shit, look no further !

This is a gameplay video from the RPG game, I`ve …

Unnamed RPG

Greetings!

I'm Riley from the recently formed Stark Knight Studios. Essentially, I'll provide interfacing between our team and the rest of the world! In any case, we're utterly stoked for the RPG competition coming up - as such, I've began mockup/concept sketching.

I'll post more as we continue creatively prepping …

Programming with OpenGL #4

Posted by Mordi on April 25, 2012, 2:23 p.m.

The last few days I've been working on rendering fonts. At first I had trouble with aliasing and foreign characters. These have now been fixed. Another problem was that font-rendering was terribly slow. What I was doing at first was simply generating each glyph (character) and a texture of the …

Tile Practice

Posted by Lorik on April 25, 2012, 1:11 p.m.

Yesterday I went ahead and practiced a bit of tile work in BYOND. It's generally not too difficult to make basic tiles do what they're supposed to do. Making them do that and be interesting as well? That might take some time. I consider it a good beginning.

My assistant, …

Project: 16,777,216

Posted by tower07 on April 25, 2012, 12:23 p.m.

xshadowxfusionx and I are making a game for the RPG 4 Digits contest, code-named 16,777,216. Why? Because that's the total area of the world map, measured in levels.

Our idea of a level is about 16*16 squares, with the player being 1 square.

So the game's map is 4,294,967,296 times …

Projects.

So for the unknown-th time I've started working on The Crawl, 3d rpg much like the classic AD&D based ones.

Some features in map making from the GM version have to be dropped, and I've also greatly cut down the map size and world map count. Maps can still have …
