What the heck IS ICQ anyway?

Posted by anthonyloprimo on July 2, 2010, 12:39 p.m.

I see a fair amount of people still using this… messenger?

I hear it's so good, and you can use it with AIM, etc. I call BS.

I must have added a total of 8 different people - some of which also have AIM/MSN/YIM, (and I chat with them over that). I send them a message from AIM to their ICQ number, and they never respond. What is this bullcrap?

If ICQ is half as good as I hear, why the heck have I been unable to talk to them via AIM? I've noticed AIM allowing this for the longest time and It's never worked for me.

ICQ is useless. It's like "What if we had the features of an IM, but forced you to use a phone number instead"

This is pretty much the first time I've heard it mentioned in years o.o

Should use Pidgin if you want to use multiple messenger names.

I don't talk to anyone on AIM so I just use MSN to talk to MSN and Yahoo people.

Pidgin forever. Best thing ever. I pretty much only use it for msn just because the windows for msn are so large and bulky taking up a third of my screen. Not to mention that windows live is a memory whore.

@ all you guys

Well the main rant/question was due to the fact that it seems that AIM compatible with ICQ, and people claim it works, yet with the few people who actually did use it (and I added via copy+paste) never seem to respond/get my messages.

There is also Digsby, which provides you all social networking needs.
