M4 Assault Rifle an' Such

So since my girlfriend decided to break my silence, I guess I might as well write a follow up, with what's been going on in my life.

The only thing really interesting, is that I've been getting into airsoft and paintball with some guys at work. I bought this:

It's an airsoft M4 replica made by ICS outta Taiwan. It's no Tokyo Marui, but it's nice.

It's a battery operated gun, rather than gas blowback, has R.I.S. rails, and shoots roughly 330 Feet Per Second.

I haven't made any modifications to the internals yet to up the FPS or anything (haven't even played with it in a real game yet), but it's fun. I've got a walmart clearsoft M4 with a vertical foregrip and a reflex sight, so I tried popping those on. I didn't like the reflex sight, so I took it off, and my friend and I ordered a couple ACOG sights for our M4s.

I haven't gotten an aifsoft side arm yet (other than a few clearsoft spring pistol), but I'm liking the feel of one of the Barettas (I can't remember the model off hand). I borrowed a guy's glock for one game, and it shoots nice, but the Baretta feels nicer in my hand. (you're just shooting BBs, so it's all about the look and feel)

I've still got a lot to buy before I'm all airsofted-out, but I did get a tactical vest as well - and of course, a paintball mask. I'm thinking of buying another mask without the cheeks, and just using a mouth guard (these things break the skin and shatter teeth) so I can rest my cheek on my stock and aim more nicely. I'll see how well the ACOG feels though, since it's raised higher off the gun.

After that I have to get a BDU with boots and stuff.

The airsoft community in Canada is…Well, it kind of sucks. It's full of a lot of elitests and glorified LARPers. If you show up with a clearsoft M4, you'll probably be laughed at, and kicked off the field. It's retarded.

Anyway, on the paintball side, I ordered my own marker a couple days ago (figured since so many people were getting into it, and we're sort of forming a team, I might as well get a marker…Paintball's so expensive though. >_<)

One of the guys from my work used to own a paintball field, and was in a paintball team for a long time, so he's kind of convincing us all to get into it. (We're not fighting it though. XD)

Also, if anyone's thinking of joining cybernations, you should also join Ikariam. I've been playing it for a couple years, and it's an awesome browser based game. I play on the delta server, under FirestormX, on .com.

If you want to join, sign up from this link, and it will start you off closer to my towns. I can help you with resources and advice. =D

Haha, I just guessed at it - don't know the bbcode for my own website!

Fixed though.

Paintball is fun, getting shot by one isn't.

Sure I'll give it a try.

I've missed you.

Ikariam got boring for me after about a week.

It shoots feet?!

I don't mind getting shot by paintballs; that's half the fun I think. Especially in airsoft.

Knowing it's going to hurt, makes the game that-much-more fun. If you're playing toy guns, you can go running around doing whatever you want. When you're playing a game with players with "assault rifles" that can shoot 15 BBs/second that go 350-400 FPS, there's a bit more to the game than just a "if I get hit, I'm out". It's more of a "I'll be out, and I'll be in pain".

My gun also shoots metres. Between 90 - 100 metres/second.

Also, Ikariam gets fun after you play for a week.

True, knowing ti's going to hurt makes it all the more exciting, but I always end up getting shot up close :(

*grins* there's a place here in Toronto that's all about Close Quarters, and there's a "no mercy rule". Usually if you're close to the person, you can call mercy, and they can call themselves out if they want. You can't do that at this place. The very first game I played there, I was hiding behind a wall, and I peeked up through the window and there was a guy with a P90 right on the other side. I ducked down fast, and paniced, and he ran around the corner, stared at me for a second, then shot me in the chest.

There's all sorts of fun rules. Like "zombie", where you're not out unless you're hit in the head. That's especially bad in paintball, because it's so inacurate. Even if you're not being a dick and are aiming for the guy's head at close range, odds are you'll have to shoot him 3 or 4 times to "trace" your bullets up to his head.

Or if you're like me and my over-competitive-smack-talking-boss, you'll aim for the nuts, and accidentally hit him in the head after a few shots. XD

Airsoft wars are awesome.

Yeah, airsoft guns is awesome. I remember having "wars" with my friends, and one guy always wore like 6 layers of clothes so he did'nt even noticed if he was shot. Well, those extra layers of protection came with prize. As he ran through a forrest he stumbled on a twig or something, and fell and broke his gun on a stone.
