Mario Kart Game Idea

Posted by Best Games Forever on Jan. 19, 2007, 8:24 p.m.

First of all, I have to say, I'm taking a break from the SMA4 Engine.

For the past day or so, I've been working on a new game. I was thinking Mario Kart in 8-bit as it would be on the Nintendo NES.

There is no demo yet cause, yeah, no WIP game. I have 10 character planed: Mario, Luigi, Toad, Peach, Goomba, Koopa, Hammer Bros, and Bowser, the two unlockable characters being DK and Yoshi.

Items would be the traditional banana, shell, triple shell, red shell, maybe triple red shell, mushroom, triple mushroom, star, and coin. I think the coins would increase speed instead of all of the physics. The AI would be Josh's AI. I will have to fix it up ALOT though.

Four cups and Two speeds arer planned: Mushroom Cup(SMB1),Flower Cup(SMB2),Star Cup(SMB3),and Special Cup(Remix) and 50cc+100cc.

I have finished all characters but bowser, peach, yoshi, and DK. I made the banana, shell, mushroom, and star.

Any suggestions for the game or the name would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You project looks suprisingly quite nice…

Make sure you have some background scenery (to stop it from looking too bland), and some obstacles…

Its a shame you can't make it in d3d, but then again, it wouldn't be very nes like would it?

I don't think you can call it a game "idea" if it's for a clone.

@RetroVortex: It does have background scenary(just not seen).

And no matter if it's 3d or not, It still couldn't actually be played on the NES. Too many active objects.

@Jabberwock: Obviously it's a clone because of Mario Kart. Just an Idea for a clone
