Friggin Apple

My iPod broke the other day. It was only a shuffle, but its still annoying, especially because its my only means of transporting data to uni.

I pulled it out of the computer, and the USB plug didn't come with it. So it doesn't work. I called up the Apple tech support and told them what happened, and the idiot just said "any damage through misuse of the product voids the warranty".

Misuse? What the FUCK? Since when has taking the fucking thing out of the computer MISUSING it!? That isn't misuse, you want to know what it is? FACTORY FUCKING DEFECT is what it is.

I told him I wasn't misusing it, simply removing it from the computer (after deactivating it through software). He told me "There is a certain way you are supposed to remove the product". I asked him to enlighten me, and he replied (after a lengthy pause, mind you), "Its just like normal, but you need to be careful."

Again, I reiterate, what the FUCK is that supposed to mean? I've been using hardware since I was 2 years old. I've worked as a computer technician for 3 years, and he tells me I need to be careful? How much care do you need? Does the prick want me to take it out with a pair of fucking tweesers?

After I told him that, he said I could get it repaired, but it would cost $110 (AUS).

Now let me break this down in Mastercard terminology…

iPod Shuffle - $100

Repairs for your defective iPod shuffle - $110

cost of mobile phone call - $12

Being abused by tech support who obviously hasn't heard the words 'Consumer Affairs', then told basically that any factory defect which results in physical damage to the product voids the warranty - fucking priceless.

Anyhoo, sorry bout all the language. I'm sure you'll get over it. Its basically forced me to use 64D as a filesharing tool now though (don't worry, I'll delete my stuff after I've used it, mods)

In other, equally ridiculous news, I had to write an essay about the techniques and meaning of avant garde short films that basically have no meaning. I'm serious, these films are classified as not having any meaning. In fact, one guy was abused because his film was ENTERTAINING. This genre is literally, for example, sticking a camera on a mountaintop and swinging it back and forth for 6 hours. There was one film called 'Man Sleeping'. You know what it was? A man sleeping for 8 HOURS. EIGHT FRIGGIN HOURS. How the hell do you write an essay on that?

A very unhappy Mal signing out.

Hehe! Sorry, I do not usually laugh at other people's misfortunes, but that was hilarious.

Things don't seem to be going too well.

But you have to admit, the fact that he said "Its just like normal, but you need to be careful." is funny.

Serves you right for buying anything with an Apple logo on it. That's your karma for straying to the dark side.

I gave up on tech support after multiple failed tries to many companies regarding various issues with various hardware. They all spew bullshit from their eyelids.

The only time I call tech support now is if I want an authorization for return, or my damned money.
