RPG4D - The Winner

Posted by Toast on Sept. 2, 2012, 3:31 p.m.

THE JUDGING PROCESS:

There were three judges, NAL, twisterghost and marbs, as unfortunately the other four judges, Daniel Remar, Matt Thorson, Cactus and JW, were either too busy or didn't respond in time. Each judge was asked to rank the games. A first place was given 10 points, second place 5 points, third 3 points, fourth 2 points, fifth 1 point. The points were then added up. This is the system I have chosen to use. While I was not personally involved in the judging, this points system is my personal choice. As of posting this blog, this is my final decision.

Anyway. The time has finally come. Approximately 5 months after we were first talking about a super-long RPG-themed competition, we've finally reached the climax. Here it comes…

Congrats to the winners. :D

What's up with Exile being rated #1, then #5 twice?

I kinda feel like a shmuck because I didn't actually nominate the games I liked. Sorry, Magicdweedoo; I'm a rat's ass.

Perhaps I'll participate more in S4D.

Quite a few BBcode fails there.

Congratulations!

Charlie Carlo 11 years, 7 months ago

I see no failcode.

Castypher 11 years, 7 months ago

FUCK YEAH, STEAM GAMES.

Congrats to Yaru for coming out on top. Shattered World was the most polished, flawless game on the entire roster, in my honest opinion. Well done.

Castypher 11 years, 7 months ago

So at what point do we forfeit some of the prizes?

MBlaze 11 years, 7 months ago

I know no one likes bitter people, but I can't believe first place was a Disgaea clone, cloning takes so much less effort than making an original game. I probably shouldn't complain, because I still ended up putting the game in my nominations (but only due to other games not working). I wanted to let it slide, but it's a $400 prize, only 3 judges and the final judging date was changed, wasn't it?

Charlie Carlo 11 years, 7 months ago

If Shattered World was a clone of Disgaea, then surely:

5th was a clone of ET.

4th was a clone of Elder Scrolls: Arena.

3rd was a clone of Diablo.

2nd was a clone of <insert RPG name here>.

Yours was a clone of Maplestory.

Who gives a damn, it's not like the results are going to be changed.

THEY WERE JUDGED, MAN.

Congratulations Yaru!

CONGASTUFALINGO YELU.

I need to stop drinking coffee.

Castypher 11 years, 7 months ago

You see mine as a Diablo clone? =(

Not sure how, but I'll take that as a compliment.

Yaru stated that she used Disgaea as a base, but the ability to create a TBS game that flawless in GM is a greater feat to me than coming up with your own original concept.
