I just wanted to say hi to everyone and that I am new to the community. However, I am not new to Game Maker. I have been using it since version 5.3a. I am probably one of the very few people that still use version 6, as I am not willing to be a part of the YoYo Games community. It's just too disappointing..
I tried C# + XNA. Pretty tough, and it seems that "creating" objects is way too much work so most tutorials I find will have one bullet object that gets moved when needed.
Please tell me it has more utility than that. You have to learn C# and XNA the same way you do Game Maker: starting as a noob. Were you any better at Game Maker when you first started than you are at C#/XNA now? Probably, since GM is easier, but not much. If you stick with it for a bit, you'll actually learn to use it.
I believe I started off copying code from games that seemed similar. Of course, they also had a drag-and-drop. C# has that sort of thing for application forms, but the XNA bit doesn't seem to. And if it does, it won't help much in making a game.
No, there's no drag and drop for XNA… You could get Torque (which costs 120 bucks), giving you a GUI for development. But I don't hear that many good things about it, either.
You can make anything you could make in GM and FAR more in XNA, but you need to actually understand the language, the framework, and the associated OOP concepts."GM 7 removes the surface bugs from GM 6 that are a bit of a pain in the arse if you're doing anything clever. GM 8 does png."
Fix'd.Wait what the fuck since when is 64D a GM site
i still use game maker. but thats mainly because im not a freakin development team here, just one person.
but if you want to go into game programming by all means learn other languages.also, i started at 5.0 or 5.1 i believe.Yoyo ruined GM. I think I need to get a shirt of that. Its like Yoko and that Beatles guy.
I think we actually need some new GM users. The sudden burst of interest in 64D is good news.
welcome to 64digits, please leave your motivation at the door
